Carlos Tevez has described his stint in the Chinese Super League as “like a holiday” after returning to Boca Juniors. The 33-year-old joined Shanghai Shenhua in December 2016 and was the highest-paid professional footballer in the world. He scored just four goals in 16 games and was hit with criticism surrounding his application and commitment to the club. "I was on holiday for seven months in China," the former Argentina international joked to TyC Sports. "It's fine for the Shanghai coach and president to criticise me, I didn't know what I was doing there. "I know there are people who were annoyed by how I left, but that's normal. I was not in a position to give 100%, but it was going to hurt the fans no matter what I did. "Now the fans will see me again with the Boca shirt and they will be excited and happy." Carlos Tevez has returned to boyhood club Boca Juniors after an unsuccessful spell with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua. The former Manchester United and Manchester City forward joined Shanghai in December 2016 in a deal worth a reported £40m. However, Tevez scored only four goals in 20 appearances for the Chinese outfit and, this week, they revealed he had left by mutual consent a year prior to his contract expiry. "The club would like to place on record our gratitude to Tevez for his contributions last season and wish him all the best in his future endeavours," read a statement. Boca said: "Tevez has come home! Today he joined up with Guillermo (Barros Schelotto)'s squad at Cardales and he is training with his team-mates." The move marks Tevez's third stint at the Buenos Aires club where he first made his name between 2001 and 2004. Carlos Tevez has revealed that both Chelsea and Napoli have attempted to sign the Boca Juniors striker. The former Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus ace called time on his hugely successful stint in European football in 2015 when making a surprise switch to Boca - his first club. Tevez has now been tempted into making a return to the Premier League by Chelsea and Serie A by Napoli, but he has no desire to leave his homeland before calling time on his career. The Sun reports him as saying. "It is true Chelsea and Napoli want me" "But my desire is to stay with Boca until I retire, I am going to stay at Boca even if Napoli and Chelsea come knocking." Tevez enjoyed a brief stint in London West Ham United, where he scored seven times in 29 appearances for the club in one season with The Hammers.
