'Kemar Roofe staying at Oxford United' says Michael Appleton

    • Twitter: twitter FMCJ10

Michael Appleton insists that Oxford United star, Kemar Roofe will not be leaving the League Two side during the transfer window.

The 23-year-old, who scored twice during the weekend's 3-2 F.A Cup win over Premier League side Swansea City, has recently been linked with Tyne side Newcastle United.

However, Appleton has issued a hands off warning to the Magpies and any other potential suitors that the midfielder is not for sale.

"He is an Oxford United player and he is happy to be an Oxford United player and he doesn't want to go anywhere as he is enjoying his football here and improving day by day," he told reporters.

Roofe signed for the U's from West Bromwich Albion for an undisclosed fee in the summer.
