BUNDESLIGA PREVIEW: All eyes on Schalke 04

    By Sebastian Sternik

The Royal Blues travel to Freiburg as they aim to overturn their recent fortunes. Elsewhere, Werder Bremen take on Hertha Berlin in the pick of today’s games!

17:30: Werder Bremen vs. Hertha Berlin

In what is the biggest fixture of the week, Hertha Berlin take on Werder Bremen for a chance to lead the Bundesliga table... at least until Bayern kick off later in the day.

However, their record against Werder is far from convincing.  Their last victory over Bremen came all the way back in 2013 and their last win at the Wesser-Stadion came all the way back in 2006.

What’s more Werder are in good form and sit in fourth place after claiming eight points from their opening four games.

    Prediction: 2-2 Draw

    19:30: Bayern Munich vs. Augsburg

The defending champions are in action this Tuesday against a team they truly know how to beat.

Bayern have won 12 from 14 Bundesliga meetings with Augsburg. What’s worse for Manuel Baum’s side is that the current champions are on a 13-match unbeaten run when it comes to home matches played during Oktoberfest.

    This could get ugly…

    Prediction: 4-0 Bayern win

    19:30: Hannover 96 vs. Hoffenheim

All the stats point to a Hoffenheim victory. TSG have won 11 league games against Hannover; more than they have managed against any other team.

They are yet to lose a game when scoring the opening goal in this fixture and what’s worse, they are unbeaten in seven midweek Bundesliga games.

But, the one thing going against them is their own away form. Three straight defeats on the road does provide Hannover with some level of hope.

    Prediction: 1-2 Hoffenheim win

    19:30: Freiburg vs. Schalke 04

A must-win for Schalke? No. This is a must not lose situation for Domenico Tedesco’s side. Following a run of four straight defeats, they are rooted to the bottom of the Bundesliga table.

Bad news for Schalke is the fact that Freiburg have found their scoring boots. Six goals in two games makes them a dangerous threat to that Royal Blues defence.

In recent times, the Gelschenkirchen outfit have done well against Freiburg and I cannot see them leaving the Schwarzwald-Stadion without at least a point.

    Prediction: 1-1 Draw
