Unai Emery has admitted that he was glad to see his Arsenal side ‘suffer’ in their Europa League win over FK Qarabag on Thursday night.
The Gunners secured a flattering 3-0 win in Baku as Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Emile Smith Rowe and Matteo Guendouzi all scored their first goals for the club.
This make it eight wins from eight in all competitions for Arsenal since their defeat to Chelsea in August.
The North Londoners now sit top of their Europa League group on goal difference, with their toughest opponents, Sporting Lisbon, level on points after two games.
Sokratis put the Gunners ahead early on, but Emery had to wait until just shy of the hour mark to see his side push clear.
"I think we suffered in the match - but I want to suffer," Emery told reporters.
"I want to not find easy matches, like today. Then, in our moments, to show you and show them our possibilities, our quality and our organised moments.
“I think in the 90 minutes today, the team worked very well."
